According to reports, a knowledgeable source revealed that the Trump administration has not yet had any discussions with the artificial intelligence company Anthropic about the government investing in the company. The White House, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Anthropic have not immediately responded to requests for comments. Previously, the Financial Times reported that OpenAI is discussing transferring 5% ownership to the U.S. government to address concerns about the potential misuse of advanced AI models by Washington, as well as to ensure that the American public benefits from the high valuations in the AI industry.
