China Meteorological Administration: Two to three typhoons are expected to make landfall in or affect coastal areas of China in July.

The China Meteorological Administration held a press conference today to forecast and analyze the climate trends in China for July. In terms of precipitation, eastern Inner Mongolia, northeastern regions, most of North China, central and southern parts of South China, central parts of East China, southern regions of Southwest China, southwestern parts of Xinjiang, northwestern parts of Tibet, and southeastern regions are expected to have above-average precipitation compared to the same period in previous years, while the rest of the country will have near-average to below-average precipitation. In terms of temperature, eastern Inner Mongolia, northwestern parts of the northeastern regions, southwestern parts of South China, southern regions of Southwest China are expected to have below-average temperatures compared to previous years, while the rest of the country will have above-average temperatures, with western Inner Mongolia, northern parts of the northwest regions, and northeastern parts of Xinjiang expected to be 1-2C warmer. In terms of typhoons, there are expected to be 4-6 typhoons forming in the Northwest Pacific and the South China Sea, which is above average for the same period in previous years; 2-3 typhoons are expected to make landfall or impact coastal areas in China, also above average compared to the same period in previous years; overall, the intensity of the typhoons is expected to be stronger, with a risk of strong typhoons moving northward and affecting northern regions of China.
