The Hungarian government stated on its website that due to the Danube River, which serves as the cooling water source, having a temperature that is too high, the Paks Nuclear Power Plant in the country may need to further reduce its electricity generation by 320 megawatts on Sunday. The government said that Sunday is very likely to break the record of the highest temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius. This nuclear power plant, which has four Russian-made reactors with a total installed capacity of 2 gigawatts, announced on Saturday that due to the water temperature exceeding the intervention threshold of 29.5 degrees Celsius, the output power of reactor 3 will be reduced by 243 megawatts. If further production cuts are implemented on Sunday, the total electricity generation of the plant will decrease to approximately 70% of its installed capacity.
