More than 50% of ordinary small car quotas in Beijing are taken up by "car-less households".

On June 26th at 10:00, the city allocated a total of 9600 ordinary small car indicators for households and individuals, with household and individual applicants entering the same pool for the lottery. Additionally, 400 ordinary small car indicators were allocated for units. Based on the results from the lottery, there were 5365 indicators allocated to households and 4235 allocated to individuals in this round, with over half of the indicators being won by "car-less households." According to the Beijing Municipal Motor Vehicle Control Management Office, as of 59:59 on March 8, 2026, there were 528,855 valid codes for household ordinary small car indicator applications, 2,546,598 valid codes for individual ordinary small car indicator applications, and 38406 valid codes for unit ordinary small car indicator applications.
