Apple adjusts its Mac chip strategy, the next generation of high-end chips will directly leap to the M7 series.
Apple is undergoing one of the largest adjustments to its Mac chip strategy in history, preparing to leap directly to a new generation of chips focused on artificial intelligence. Sources familiar with the matter said that Apple, which currently uses the M5 series, plans to introduce the entry-level M6 processor as early as this year for entry-level Macs, but the company will skip the high-end version of this chip for the first time. Sources said that Apple is now planning to launch the next generation Pro and Max chips with more advanced computing and graphics processing capabilities in 2027 as part of the new M7 chip.
