The latest data from the Ministry of Transport shows that from January to May this year, the daily average passenger flow of Shenzhen urban rail transit reached 5.17 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%, leading the growth among first-tier cities in China. Last year, the expansion of Shenzhen's urban rail transit network experienced a concentrated outbreak, with 6 new lines opening to passengers, increasing the operational mileage of the network to 634.5 kilometers, achieving "district-wide subway connections". This has injected strong momentum into Shenzhen's industrial aggregation, talent attraction, and urban renewal, and has also driven steady growth in metro passenger flow. The data shows that in January and May of this year, the number of passengers entering Shenzhen's metro was 169 million and 166 million respectively, ranking second nationwide. In addition, Shenzhen's metro network density, passenger transport intensity, and public transport share rate have long been ranked first nationwide. Among them, the passenger transport intensity reached 14,900 passengers/kmday, leading for 30 consecutive months since December 2023, maximizing transportation efficiency per unit distance; the network density reached 0.32 km/square kilometer, promoting more balanced industrial layout and population distribution along the lines; the public transport share rate reached 78.8%, making it more convenient for citizens to travel.
