In order to promote the construction of smart ports and enhance the customs clearance experience, the Macao Public Security Police Force, the Macao Security Forces Affairs Bureau, and the Zhuhai Immigration Checkpoint General Station have jointly agreed that starting from June 26, 2026, the cooperation inspection self-service channels at the Qingmao Port and the Zhuhai-Macao Hall of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port will officially apply "smart customs clearance". At that time, a total of 204 cooperation inspection self-service channels will be available at all "cooperation inspection" ports in Macao, realizing "face-scanning" customs clearance. The "smart customs clearance" uses advanced facial recognition technology to replace physical document verification with "face-scanning", simplifying the operation steps and achieving document-free inspection for quick passage. However, it is important to note that individuals using "smart customs clearance" still need to carry physical customs clearance documents with them for identity verification if needed by immigration officers. The above-mentioned two ports successfully completed the "smart customs clearance" system stress tests from April 22 to 24 and began trial operation on May 11 and 12 respectively. As of the 24th of this month, these two ports have registered 170,000 people, with over 1.72 million uses, and the system has operated smoothly and steadily during the trial period.
