2036 Olympic Games host city confirmed in 2029, Olympic event evaluation shifts to sub-items.

The International Olympic Committee's 146th Congress on the 24th approved two important reform proposals, involving the selection process for Olympic hosting cities and the method for setting Olympic events. According to the new selection process, the host city for the 2036 Olympics will be decided in 2029; a new evaluation method based on competition "sub-items" will inject more flexibility into the setting of Olympic events. Since taking over the International Olympic Committee from former Chairman Bach in June last year, Coe has launched a series of reforms with the theme of "Adapting for the Future", with optimizing the selection process for Olympic hosting cities being an important part of it. Previously, the hosting cities for the 2028 and 2032 Olympics were both decided 11 years in advance.
