The National Energy Administration released the data on nationwide electric vehicle charging facilities in May 2026. According to the data from the National Charging Facility Monitoring Service Platform, as of the end of May 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in China reached 22.497 million, an increase of 44.9% year-on-year. Among them, there were 4.951 million public charging facilities, an increase of 25.9% year-on-year, with a total rated power of 242 million kilowatts and an average power of approximately 48.89 kilowatts per single gun; there were 17.546 million private charging facilities, an increase of 51.4% year-on-year, and the installed electric capacity of private charging facilities reached 151 million kilovolt-amperes. The average power per single gun is approximately 48.89 kilowatts, an increase of 8.9% year-on-year, maintaining a steady growth trend this year, and the rapid energy replenishment service capability of the station continues to improve. The number of private charging facilities has maintained a year-on-year growth rate of over 50% this year, and household charging facilities are developing rapidly.
