TrendForce: Japan accelerates layout of all-solid-state battery industry chain, intensifying global competition in next-generation battery technology

Guotong Finance APP learned that, according to TrendForce's latest "Global Solid-State Battery Industry Development Quarterly Report_2Q26", Japan has been expanding its support for next-generation battery technologies in recent years. Starting in 2023, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will implement the "Battery Supply Security Plan", focusing on supporting the research and early production of all-solid-state batteries (ASSB), bipolar low-cost lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, and other technologies. As of the first quarter of 2026, this plan has approved five major projects related to the all-solid-state battery supply chain, with a total subsidy amount of 660 million US dollars (approximately 105.7 billion Japanese yen).
