The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the National Development and Reform Commission held a symposium on strengthening comprehensive regulation of pig production capacity.
Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the National Development and Reform Commission organized a symposium with some major pig-producing provinces and large-scale pig breeding enterprises to analyze and judge the current situation of pig production, guide localities and enterprises to carry out routine targeted control, and promote pig prices to return to a reasonable level as soon as possible. The meeting believed that the current pig prices have stabilized at the bottom and it is necessary to continue to tightly implement comprehensive production capacity control measures, effectively improve the market supply and demand relationship, and consolidate the foundation for the recovery of pig prices. The meeting required large-scale pig breeding enterprises to actively respond to the call, improve the quality of production statistics and monitoring data reporting, take the lead in reducing pig production capacity and output, strictly control secondary fattening, lead in the culling of weak piglets, and lead in reducing the weight of slaughtered pigs. The relevant major pig-producing provinces should strengthen supervision at all levels and share monitoring information, strengthen through management, urgently revise and implement provincial production capacity control plans, better form policy synergy, and continue to substantially reduce production capacity.
