According to a report from American media on the 20th, the upcoming US-Iran talks in Switzerland will focus on the Iran nuclear issue, as well as the situation in Israel and Lebanon. The US Axios news website quoted two regional sources on the 20th as saying that the US hopes to facilitate Iran's allowing UN inspectors to visit nuclear facilities that were bombed by the US and Israel in exchange for Iran using some of its frozen funds to purchase humanitarian supplies. The US CBS News on the same day quoted a diplomatic source involved in the negotiations as saying that an emergency meeting on the ceasefire between the Hezbollah party in Lebanon and Israel has been added to the agenda of the first round of negotiations. US Vice President Pence departed for Switzerland on the 20th to attend talks with the Iranian side. Pence told the media before departing that he expects to stay in Switzerland for one to two days and hopes for progress on the Iran nuclear issue and a ceasefire in the Lebanon conflict. The purpose of the first round of talks is to "establish a practical framework and negotiation mechanism", and technical expert-level consultations may continue in Switzerland after the first round of high-level talks end.
