Jefri: As Stummer's competitors return to Parliament, British politics is at a turning point.
Jefferies' Ahmed Farman wrote in a report to clients that British politics is at a turning point after a major rival of Prime Minister Keir Starmer was elected as a Member of Parliament. Manchester Mayor and former Minister Andy Burnham easily defeated the closest competitor in the local elections in Makerfield in northern England - a candidate from the anti-immigrant UK Reform Party - to return to the country's parliament. Burnham is now expected to challenge Starmer for the leadership of the ruling Labour Party and the position of Prime Minister. "At a time of turmoil in the British political landscape, the Makerfield by-election is expected to be a key turning point for potential leadership challenges," Farman said.
