Stellenbosch University in South Africa released a press release on the 18th, stating that a recent study led by South African scientists has found that microorganisms in the sea ice of the Southern Ocean and Antarctic Ocean are able to survive in extreme cold environments by producing and recycling a sulfur-containing compound and may play an important role in regulating regional climate.
