The United Nations holds interactive dialogues with candidates for Secretary-General.

On the 18th, the United Nations General Assembly held an interactive dialogue with the candidates for the next Secretary-General. Caroline Rodrigues-Birkett, the Permanent Representative of Guyana to the United Nations who was recently nominated, participated in the dialogue. In outlining her vision for the future development of the United Nations, Rodrigues-Birkett stated that the United Nations sets global standards for a wide range of issues, and no country is unaffected by the work of the United Nations. She pledged to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, reform the UN system and operations, work hand in hand with member states to make the UN more flexible and efficient, and ensure balanced development in the three pillars of the United Nations.
