Omdia: The Q1 PC market in India grew by 31.9% year-on-year to reach 4.4 million units.
According to the latest research by Omdia, the PC market in India (excluding tablets) saw a year-on-year growth of 31.9%, reaching 4.4 million units in the first quarter of 2026. The market growth was mainly driven by strong demand for laptops, with laptop shipments reaching 3.5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 44.8%. This was primarily due to robust consumer market demand and large-scale government-led education tenders, such as the Tamil Nadu Electronics Corporation (ELCOT) project. Desktop shipments, on the other hand, declined by 2.7% year-on-year to 882,000 units, mainly due to high component prices and delays in orders caused by the shift towards mobile devices in the market. The tablet market also saw growth in the quarter, with shipments reaching 1.1 million units, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, as consumer demand and promotions offset the weak deployments in the enterprise and education sectors.
