Brazilian President warns Trump not to interfere in Brazilian elections.
Brazilian President Lula on June 17th in Geneva, Switzerland, called out to US President Trump, demanding Trump to "not interfere" in Brazil's elections this year. Lula said that Trump has the right to hold his own elections and ideological preferences, but should not meddle in Brazil's elections. Lula also stated that if Trump only understands Brazil through his relationship with the family of former Brazilian President Bolsonaro, then he does not truly understand Brazil. Earlier that day, Trump had said at a press conference after the G7 summit that the son of former Brazilian President Bolsonaro, Eduardo Bolsonaro, had been "arrested", and Brazil had become "politically dangerous". On June 16th, the Brazilian Supreme Court ruled that Eduardo Bolsonaro is guilty of coercion, as he was accused of lobbying activities abroad and pressuring foreign governments to intervene in his father's impeachment trial. However, since Eduardo Bolsonaro currently resides in the United States, the trial was held in absentia. Bolsonaro's other son, Flavio Bolsonaro, is considered to be one of Lula's main competitors in this year's Brazilian presidential election.
