According to the latest forecast from Omdia, global XR headset shipments are expected to decrease by 12% in 2026, to 6.2 million units. However, the market is projected to recover in 2027, reaching 6.5 million units, a growth of 4.8% year-on-year. This recovery is expected to be mainly driven by the rapid expansion of XR glasses, offsetting the decline in XR headsets shipments. Consumers and manufacturers are increasingly preferring more portable glasses form factors rather than larger headset devices.
