Henan Lingbao foot massage parlor fire investigation report released, 14 public officials were held accountable.

The Emergency Management Department of Henan Province announced the investigation results of the serious fire accident at Lanfeng Foot Massage Parlor in Lingbao City, Sanmenxia. On May 2, 2026, a fire broke out at Lanfeng Foot Massage Parlor in Lingbao City, Sanmenxia, resulting in 6 deaths and direct economic losses of 8.137 million yuan. It was found that the fire was caused by candles used for prayer that were not extinguished in time, igniting flammable materials nearby. The responsibility of the operating entity was not fulfilled, operating illegally without regular inspections, unmanned fire control room, failure to discover and deal with the fire in time, leading to the accident due to the inadequate performance of the local party committee, government, and relevant departments and units. Five individuals from Lanfeng Foot Massage Parlor and Jinxiangsheng Property Company face criminal charges and have been taken into custody by judicial authorities. Administrative penalties have been imposed by relevant departments on the violations and irregularities of Lanfeng Foot Massage Parlor and Jinxiangsheng Property Company. 14 public officials from the local party committee, government, and relevant departments and units have been held accountable for their dereliction of duty in the accident, following the rules, regulations, and laws by the discipline inspection and supervision authorities.
