In the first five months of this year, the scale of imports and exports in the western region of our country reached a record high for the same period in history.

According to statistics from Chengdu Customs, in the first five months of this year, the total import and export of goods in the 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in western China reached 2.06 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.5% year-on-year, achieving double-digit growth for six consecutive months, reaching a historical high for the same period, and contributing 11.7% to the overall national foreign trade growth during the same period. Among them, exports reached 1.3 trillion yuan, an increase of 16.6% year-on-year; imports reached 759.67 billion yuan, an increase of 22% year-on-year. The number of enterprises with import and export performance reached 39,000, an increase of 18.5% year-on-year, including 36,000 private enterprises. In the first five months, the western region's import and export trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 1.3 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.2% year-on-year, accounting for over 60% of the total import and export trade of the western region.
