Zhang Yiming retained the top spot on the New Fortune 500 list of the richest people, with six out of ten on the list coming from Guangdong, Zhejiang, Beijing, and Shanghai.

On June 17th, the annual Forbes China Rich List was released. The list showed that 43-year-old Zhang Yiming, who topped the list last year, continued to defend his title this year with a wealth of 543.9 billion yuan. In the top ten, almost all familiar faces from last year remained, and their stock market values all saw positive growth. The Zhang Bo family of China Hongqiao saw their stock market value increase by 165%, returning to the top ten with 188.8 billion yuan. As of now, there are 464 billionaires in China, an increase of 123 from last year, and equaling the record high from 2022. Looking at the wealth creation industry, driven by technological innovation and the benefits of being a large country, industries such as chips, AI, and new energy vehicles have risen strongly. The regional wealth creation landscape has also further diversified, with Guangdong, Zhejiang, Beijing, and Shanghai collectively accounting for over 60% of the total number of individuals on the list nationwide.
