According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the area of desertified land in China continues to decrease steadily, with the annual expansion of 5.15 million acres at the end of the last century changing to the current annual reduction of 10 million acres. Data shows that the total soil erosion in the eight major deserts and four major sandy areas has decreased by about 40% since 2000, with an average vegetation cover of 21.17% in sandy areas, an increase of 2.84% from 10 years ago. The forest and grass coverage in the "Three-North" region has reached 40.76%, and 67.82% of the treatable desertified land has been treated. In recent years, China has focused on winning the battle against desertification in the "Three-North" region, and has comprehensively promoted desertification control. Since the start of the three major battles of the "Three-North" project, a total of 88.9 billion yuan in central investment has been allocated, 544 key projects have been organized and implemented, and a construction task of 244 million acres has been completed. The period of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" is a crucial period for the deepening of national sand control and desertification prevention, and for winning the battle against desertification in the "Three-North" region. In the next step, all localities and departments will closely follow the planning objectives and tasks, adhere to classified protection and zoning control, promote comprehensive control of desertified land in key areas, and promote the moderate development of the green sand industry. Efforts will be made to complete the task of desertified land control in nearly 100 million acres by 2030, significantly improve the ecological conditions in key areas such as the four major sandy areas, desert oases, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Yellow River Basin, and the surrounding areas of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.
