Macau is upgrading from being a "Sino-Portuguese Precise Contact" to being a "Super Contact linking Latin American countries".

On the 15th, Xie Yongqiang, Chairman of the Administrative Management Committee of the Macao Investment Promotion Bureau, expressed to the "Opportunity Macao" journalist group that, relying on the unique position under the "one country, two systems", Macao is promoting the upgrading of the Sino-Portuguese platform and achieving strategic extension. On the one hand, it is consolidating and deepening traditional Sino-Portuguese cooperation, and on the other hand, strategically extending to the Spanish-speaking country market, which is an important breakthrough in the function of the Sino-Portuguese platform during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. Macao is expanding the radiation range of the platform to cover more than 500 million people in Spanish-speaking and Latin American countries, and the 17th International Infrastructure Forum, which concluded last week, arranged for guests from Spanish-speaking countries to visit the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau Deep Cooperation Zone for the first time. The Macao International Trade and Investment Exhibition to be held in October will specifically increase elements of Spanish-speaking countries, and the simultaneous Portuguese Country Products and Services Exhibition has started global recruitment, with a large number of Portuguese and Spanish companies expected to participate in matchmaking. With the dual drive of "Portuguese + Spanish", Macao is upgrading from a "precise contact person for Sino-Portuguese relations" to a "super contact person connecting Latin countries". Xie Yongqiang introduced that as the "China-Portuguese-speaking country trade cooperation service platform" granted by the country, Macao has formed an irreplaceable hub value after more than twenty years of deep cultivation. The trade volume between China and Portuguese-speaking countries has increased more than tenfold, from $11 billion in 2003 to $225.8 billion in 2025, growing about 20 times.
