Market Supervision Administration: Soliciting Research Forces to Tackle Key Technologies for Food Adulteration Testing.
The State Administration for Market Regulation has released the list of "Flagship" projects for food supplement testing methods in 2026, calling for scientific research from across the country to focus on three key technologies for detecting food adulteration. The list identifies three main areas of focus: first, the identification and quantitative determination of adulterants in alcoholic beverages, with a focus on developing methods for determining foreign sourced ethanol and color, fragrance, and flavor substances in liquor. Second, the authentication of milk and dairy products, with a focus on solving the problem of detecting the adulteration of goat milk with cow milk and other quantitative determinations. Third, testing for adulteration in condiments, specifically targeting issues such as soy sauce being illegally mixed with other hydrolyzed proteins. The goal of the "Flagship" project is to break through the core technological barriers in food adulteration testing, address regulatory technology shortcomings, crack down on illegal food adulteration, and effectively protect the "safety of the people's tongues".
