Qualcomm is in talks to acquire Tenstorrent to strengthen its artificial intelligence chip development capabilities.

Qualcomm is currently negotiating the acquisition of the artificial intelligence chip design startup Tenstorrent. The acquisition price range being discussed is at least between 8 to 10 billion US dollars, which represents a significant premium compared to Tenstorrent's previous valuation. It is currently unclear if the transaction price will include variable payments tied to performance targets, as such clauses are typically included in acquisitions of semiconductor startups. The negotiations between the two parties are still ongoing, and there is a possibility that the transaction amount may change, as well as a risk of the deal collapsing. If the acquisition is completed, Qualcomm will greatly expand its strength in artificial intelligence and data center chip product lines.
