Cybersecurity leaders defend Anthropic's banned model.
Prominent cybersecurity leaders, including Chief Information Security Officers, security researchers, and executives from companies such as Adobe, Zoom, and Sophos, are urging the Trump administration to lift restrictions on Anthropic's most advanced AI model. They believe that this action will cause more harm to defenders than attackers in the cyberspace. Leaders argue that restricting access to Anthropic's first publicly available Mythos-level model could weaken defenders' ability to respond to a wave of AI-driven hacking threats. A group of experts led by former Facebook Chief Security Officer Alex Stamos pointed out in a letter that the issues raised by Amazon researchers also exist in other mainstream AI models. As of Sunday evening local time, over 40 people have signed the letter. Signatories include CEOs such as Katie Moussouris from Luta Security, Rachel Tobac from SocialProof Security, Chris Wysopal from Veracode, renowned computer scientist Paul Vixie, Sophos CEO Joe Levy, and NVIDIA security researcher Aaron Grattafiore.
