OpenAI is being investigated by a coalition of state attorneys general.
Insiders have revealed that a coalition of attorneys general from multiple states has launched an investigation into OpenAI, the latest in a series of legal actions taken by states against artificial intelligence companies. Some sources have said that OpenAI received a subpoena last Friday, requesting documents related to its wide-ranging activities and their impact on users, including advertising, user engagement and retention, handling of consumer and health data, activities involving minors and seniors, deep learning models, model bias, and company policies. A spokesperson for OpenAI said in a statement, "AI is a powerful new technology, and we are working every day to responsibly and safely bring its benefits to people. We take seriously the concerns raised by attorneys general and intend to engage in constructive cooperation with their offices."
