Protesters smashed windows and set fire to a Tesla car during the anti-G7 march in Geneva.
On Sunday local time, protesters in Geneva set fire to a Tesla car and smashed the windows of a bank to vent their anger towards the upcoming Group of Seven summit across the French border. The G7 summit will take place in vian-les-Bains on the shores of Lake Geneva from June 15th to 17th, bringing together leaders from France, the UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the USA, as well as representatives from the EU. According to local police, the demonstration was overall peaceful with up to 7,000 participants, and police have confiscated some knives and fireworks. The protesters stated that they were protesting against the G7, viewing it as a symbol of political and economic power concentration. Last week, Tesla CEO Musk became the world's first trillionaire, sparking concerns about inequality once again. "To me, this is a gathering of the rich, showing once again how the rich get richer while the poor are left behind," said protester Pipa Soji.
