Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Paul Chan, stated in his speech at the summit that Hong Kong is leveraging its advantages to develop artificial intelligence and empower various industries. He mentioned that Hong Kong also has access to data resources from the mainland and globally, with three universities ranking in the top thirty globally in the field of AI and data science. With the changing geopolitical landscape, talent in the global AI field, especially Chinese scientists, are increasingly seeing Hong Kong as an important base. Chan mentioned that the Greater Bay Area combines cutting-edge research and development, application scenarios, advanced manufacturing, and financial services, making it a comprehensive innovation platform that is rare globally. In the future, there will be a focus on collaboration and complementarity with other cities in the Greater Bay Area, allowing Hong Kong to develop industries such as advanced manufacturing in addition to serving as an international financial center.
The Insurance Authority's Chief Executive Officer, Clement Cheung, is focusing on the potential of the Greater Bay Area in the development of the medical industry. He mentioned that Guangdong Province has abundant human resources, well-equipped medical facilities, and relatively low drug prices. The insurance industry in Hong Kong is mature and active, and the innovation capabilities of the cities in the Greater Bay Area are strong, providing conditions for the creation of a hub for medical innovation and medical tourism.
