The largest gold theft case in the country has been solved, and 27 kilograms of stolen gold has been recovered.
On the morning of June 12, the Nanjing Public Security Bureau held a special press conference on the "Crackdown on the Jiangning '516' Major Gold Theft Case", reporting on the progress of the investigation and returning the confiscated assets. Reporters learned from the press conference that a major gold theft case occurred in Jiangning District, Nanjing City, where 27 kilograms of gold were stolen from a store, with the amount involved reaching more than 27 million yuan. After the case occurred, the provincial, municipal, and district public security organs quickly cooperated, set up a special task force, with the leadership of the provincial Public Security Department coordinating overall and the municipal Public Security Bureau directly commanding. The special task force tracked down the case across 8 provinces, cooperating with the Mekong mechanism for cross-border arrest, successfully capturing all 11 criminal suspects and recovering all 27 kilograms of gold. This is also the largest gold theft case cracked in China so far in terms of value.
