On June 12th, the Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Cui Dongshu, stated that the main factors affecting price changes are structural changes and changes in sales volume. If the sales volume growth is slow, the average price of the car market continues to rise. In 2021, the average retail price of passenger cars was 165,000 yuan, rising steadily to 184,000 yuan in 2024. The average price of passenger cars in 2025 is 168,000 yuan, a decrease of 16,000 yuan from 2024. In May 2026, the average price of passenger cars is 173,000 yuan, an increase of 4,000 yuan compared to the same period. The prices of conventional fuel vehicles continue to rise, with a significant market shrinkage in the mid- to low-end segment and a slow shrinkage in the high-end segment, increasing from 166,000 yuan in 2021 to 188,000 yuan in 2024. In 2025, with the rapid shrinkage of high-end fuel vehicles, the average price drops to 177,000 yuan. In May 2026, the average price is 180,000 yuan, and the purchasing group of fuel vehicles gradually stabilizes. The average price of new energy vehicles has been gradually decreasing recently, from 184,000 yuan in 2023 to 180,000 yuan in 2024, 160,000 yuan in 2025, showing a significant decrease in price. In May 2026, the average price is 169,000 yuan, an increase of 7,000 yuan, reflecting the structural changes in new energy vehicle consumption.
