The United States authorizes Duke Energy to operate some of its units at full load.
The US Department of Energy stated in an email that, due to the high temperature weather, in order to prevent power outages in North and South Carolina, the department has issued an emergency order. The order authorizes Duke Energy Carolinas and Duke Energy Progress to operate specified generating units in their supply areas at maximum output. The US Department of Energy stated that due to the expected high load and sudden rise in temperature in the region, this order can reduce the risk of unnecessary power outages. This order goes into effect at 4:00 pm on June 11th Eastern Time and expires at 10:00 pm on June 12th.
