Pacific Investment Management Company managers stated that bond investors will focus on the Federal Reserve meeting next week to determine how quickly new chairman Kevin Wash will put his mark on the central bank. Former Federal Reserve vice chairman and Pimco global economic adviser Richard Clarida said investors are still trying to assess how Wash will handle communication between the Federal Reserve and the markets. "Looking back at the 1980s, it is understandable that when a new Federal Reserve chairman takes office, there is a period of perhaps weeks or months where you try to understand the institutional framework and communication," Clarida said at a PIMCO news event in New York. "The real question for me is to what extent and how Wash will put his mark on this communication and emphasize his priorities."
