Renault Group CEO: European electric car orders surged since the start of the Iran war.
Renault Group CEO Francois Provost said in a media interview on Wednesday that since the outbreak of the Iran war, orders for Renault electric cars in markets such as France and Germany have increased by 50%. Provost said that Renault has no problems in battery supply, but is working hard to meet the demand for electric cars and has set up a special task force to address this issue. He said during a car news conference in Brussels, "Due to the Iran war, our current order volume has exceeded production capacity." Provost pointed out that Renault is also considering increasing production shifts at its electric car factories in Douai and Maubeuge, France, and in Novo Mesto, Slovenia in the second half of this year. The Iran war has caused fuel prices to soar, leading to a sharp increase in demand for electric cars in Europe, with consumers showing increased interest in both new and used cars. In the first four months of this year, sales of pure electric cars in Europe surged by 29% to nearly 1 million vehicles. Provost said that once the Iran war ends and fuel prices fall, the high interest in electric cars in the market will decrease, but the pace of transition to electric cars will continue to accelerate.
