French Foreign Trade Bank: Mild core inflation in May, peak inflation related to war may be a thing of the past.
In May, the core CPI in the United States recorded a monthly rate of 0.2%, lower than the market's expectations of 0.3%. John Briggs, Head of Interest Rate Strategy for North America at French investment bank BNP Paribas, stated that the slightly lower-than-expected core inflation rate may help to support the argument that the peak of inflation related to the war may have already passed and that inflation prospects are expected to improve in the future. Of course, this depends on oil prices remaining stable in the future.
