The abnormal warning to stop the discharge of contaminated water into the sea in Japan has been lifted.
According to a report by Kyodo News, at around 4 pm on the 10th, an abnormal alert was triggered during the operation of transporting nuclear contaminated water at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant operated by Tokyo Electric Power Company, causing the automatic suspension of the operation of discharging nuclear contaminated water into the sea. Tokyo Electric Power Company stated that inspections of the onsite equipment were conducted by workers and no abnormalities were found. The company is currently investigating the specific cause of the alert being triggered. Tokyo Electric Power Company started the 20th round of discharging nuclear contaminated water into the sea on the 1st of this month. According to information previously released by Tokyo Electric Power Company, this discharge plan will continue until June 19, with an estimated total discharge of about 7,800 tons of nuclear contaminated water, containing approximately 13 trillion becquerels of radioactive tritium.
