The $760 million acquisition of EG Australia by Ampol has been approved by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, with the condition that the fuel refining and marketing company sell 41 gas stations. Ampol agreed to sell these gas stations during the second phase assessment of the transaction by the ACCC, after initially proposing to sell 19 gas stations. The ACCC had initially expressed concerns about the deal, as it would have combined EG Australia's 512 gas stations with Ampol's existing 622 gas stations under two brands. Ampol will sell these 41 gas stations to the Dib Group, which owns the Metro Petroleum brand and operates over 300 gas stations across Australia.
