On June 2nd, Choi Tae-young, the chairman of South Korean SK Group, revealed to the media at the Taipei Computer Show that its semiconductor company SK Hynix plans to double its wafer production capacity within five years. Top executives from global leading technology companies such as Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, and SK Hynix gathered at this exhibition. Choi Tae-young had previously warned in March that the global wafer shortage situation may continue until 2030. He also emphasized the need for companies to deepen their cooperation in Taiwan, with collaboration extending beyond just the world's largest wafer foundry, TSMC. He also mentioned that he hopes SK Hynix can become a major high-bandwidth memory supplier for Nvidia's Vera Rubin computational system.
