The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States issued a statement on Wednesday, ordering SpaceX to investigate the cause of the failure of its Starship booster during a test flight on May 22. This means that SpaceX must suspend all further Starship test flights until the investigation is completed and the results are submitted to the agency for review. Due to this, the likelihood of SpaceX conducting another test flight before its scheduled mid-June launch has significantly decreased. The Federal Aviation Administration stated in the statement: "After a comprehensive review of this launch mission, we have determined that the accident occurred during the 12th flight mission of Starship on May 22. The accident occurred as the Super Heavy booster was returning to the Gulf of Mexico after the rocket staging separation. No reports of injuries to personnel or damage to public property have been received. The agency will supervise the investigation led by SpaceX, participate in all aspects, and review the company's final investigation report and all corrective measures."
