On May 27th, the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission issued a statement saying that recently, some people have been spreading false information on platforms such as Douyin, claiming that "only certain districts and counties in Sichuan Province are piloting an extension of childcare subsidies up to the age of 6, with local subsidies for children aged 3-6 requiring them to have household registration in the corresponding district or county, starting from May 2026, with monthly subsidies ranging from 200-500 yuan, and additional subsidies for families with multiple children." This information is not true. Currently, childcare subsidies in all areas of Sichuan Province are only provided to infants and young children under 3 years of age who meet the legal requirements, and the subsidies are distributed once they turn 3 years old. Except for the city of Panzhihua, the current standard for childcare subsidies in other cities and prefectures in Sichuan Province is in line with the national basic standard, which is 3600 yuan per child per year.
