According to the Zhongtong Financial APP, the Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Department announced yesterday (May 26) the draft of four related subsidiary regulations on ride-hailing services, proposing a current limit of 10,000 ride-hailing licenses. The department will submit the regulations to the Legislative Council for "first-draft-then-review" procedures today. Transport and Logistics Department Director Chen Meibao stated that, after balancing various considerations such as the overall public transport ecosystem, road capacity, and citizens' travel experiences, the department has set the initial limit for licenses at 10,000, believing it to be a cautious and prudent starting point.
