Airbus has stated that the delivery of the first batch of long-haul aircraft to Australia's Qantas Airways has been delayed due to supply chain issues plaguing the aircraft manufacturer. The European group announced on Tuesday that the first of the 12 specially modified A350-1000 aircraft will now be delivered in April 2027. Qantas Airways had announced in 2022 that they would be ordering new aircraft from Airbus to operate non-stop flights between Australian cities and London and New York. At that time, Qantas Airways had stated that these flights would begin at the end of 2025. Qantas Airways later announced that the first aircraft would be delivered by the end of 2026. Airbus stated that the delivery delay is "largely attributed to the impact of supply chain issues."
