Spanish Economy Minister Carlos Cuepo said on Friday that negotiations with Anthropic on testing its new Mythos artificial intelligence model to discover digital vulnerabilities in its banks and companies had made little progress ahead of the EU finance ministers meeting. "Unfortunately, progress in this area has been limited, and we will raise this issue again at today's meeting," Cuepo said. "This is undoubtedly one of the most important elements not only in the medium and long term but also in the short term." Weeks before Cuepo made these remarks, European Commissioner for Trade Dombrovskis said the EU was discussing this issue with Anthropic. "Financial stability is global," Cuepo said, "disruptive models like Mythos or others that may emerge could have an impact on banks in the UK, Canada, and Europe, and could also spread to the US through interconnected systems."
