According to the latest data from Omdia, the smart phone market in Latin America is expected to grow by 3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, reaching 34.8 million units. This performance is a result of "continuing growth" following record shipments in the fourth quarter of 2025 and for the whole year. The growth in this quarter is mainly supported by the following factors: channels stocking up on inventory in advance, OEM manufacturers simplifying product portfolios (tending towards lower storage configurations) to cope with cost pressures, and delays in the transmission of increased DRAM and NAND costs to end prices. In terms of structure, demand for high-end markets above $500 continues to remain resilient, while the value and entry-level markets are more limited in terms of price elasticity, leading to a tightening of overall purchasing power.
