The General Administration of Market Supervision conducts a comprehensive review of residential water, electricity, and gas metering issues.
Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation deployed a comprehensive review of the issues in residential water, electricity, and gas metering, in order to conduct a comprehensive review and follow-up evaluation of the effectiveness of previous special rectification measures. They aim to consolidate the rectification achievements with strict supervision and tough measures, and resolutely prevent rebound in inaccurate metering. By 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation will focus on prominent issues such as inaccurate measuring instruments and inadequate mandatory verification, and carry out a comprehensive rectification of residential water, electricity, and gas metering nationwide in response to strong public feedback. Through comprehensive inspections and strict enforcement of standards, around 14,000 relevant illegal cases have been investigated and approximately 2.35 billion yuan have been fined nationwide, benefiting over 43.93 million people. The current "look back" is focused on verifying the completeness of rectification measures, the strictness of metering supervision, and the soundness of long-term mechanisms. By conducting checks and verification through methods such as "no go area, no inspection," "random inspections," and "cross inspections" that go directly to the grassroots level and deep into the field, they are checking item by item against the lists of issues, responsibilities, and rectifications. Those found to have incomplete or falsely rectified shortcomings will be dealt with according to the law, and formalism and superficial rectifications will be strictly eliminated.
