Indonesia tightens control over the export of bulk commodities.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stated in his policy speech in parliament on Wednesday that Indonesia will require bulk commodities such as palm oil and coal to be exported exclusively by government-designated state-owned enterprises in order to curb unauthorized activities such as underpricing and false reporting that harm the country's economy. Prabowo said, "This regulatory reform is a strategic measure to strengthen control over the export of bulk commodities and the sale of natural resources." "The government will also introduce new regulations on foreign exchange income and enhance export revenue management policies, aiming to fully realize the economic efficiency of industry operators, benefit the people, and enhance national welfare."
