On May 20, the Qingdao Municipal Government Information Office held a press conference to introduce the progress of the renovation of old residential elevators in Qingdao. After active efforts, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development approved Qingdao's target of updating 3,944 old residential elevators by 2026, involving a subsidy of 610 million yuan from long-term special national bonds. This project covers 9 districts, 47 streets, and 256 communities, benefiting approximately 131,400 households. The scale of this project continues to lead the province and rank among the top in the country. The first batch of 2,333 elevator renovation targets has been issued recently, involving a subsidy of 369 million yuan, which can stimulate approximately 80 million yuan in social investment from public benefits in communities and self-raised funds from residents. This forms a virtuous development pattern of "government guidance, market operation, public participation, and governance efficiency improvement."
