On the 20th, the Northeast Electric Power Company announced that a trace amount of steam containing radioactive material had been detected in the water tank of the turbine hall, causing a temporary suspension of the No. 2 reactor at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. The reactor has now resumed power generation. The unit has been undergoing scheduled maintenance since January of this year, and the company stated that the original plan to resume commercial operations on June 9th has not been affected. The No. 2 reactor at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant began power generation on the 14th of this month, but steam was found inside the turbine hall on the 15th, leading to the shutdown of the reactor on the 16th. An investigation revealed that metal fragments had become lodged between the valve connecting the turbine and the water tank, preventing the valve from fully closing. After the metal fragments were removed, the reactor was restarted on the 18th.
