Guoxuan Hi-Tech plans to mass produce lithium sulfide and solid electrolytes, with the goal of reducing the cost of solid-state batteries to 1 yuan/Wh.
At the Guoxuan High-Tech Technology Conference held on May 17th, Guoxuan High-Tech announced its plans to achieve mass production of key materials for solid-state batteries in order to solve the problem of high prices. According to Pan Ruijun, senior director of Guoxuan High-Tech, 70%-80% of the cost of sulfide solid-state batteries comes from sulfide electrolytes, and 70%-80% of the cost of sulfide electrolytes comes from lithium sulfide. Based on this, Guoxuan High-Tech plans to establish a production capacity of 300 tons/year of lithium sulfide by 2026; in 2027, the capacity will increase to 20,000 tons/year; by 2030, it will further increase to 50,000 tons/year, able to meet the demand for 150 GWh of solid-state batteries, and will also provide lithium sulfide products to the entire industry. As for solid-state electrolytes, Guoxuan High-Tech plans to establish a production capacity of 2,000 tons/year by 2026; next year, the capacity will increase to 10,000 tons/year; by 2030, it will further increase to 100,000 tons/year, able to meet the demand for 100 GWh of solid-state batteries. "When the cost of lithium sulfide drops to 50,000 yuan/ton, and the cost of solid-state electrolytes drops to 30,000 yuan/ton, solid-state batteries will usher in their own era of 1 yuan/Wh," Pan Ruijun said.
