14/05/2026
On the 14th of the local time, Hungary lifted the "state of war emergency". In May 2022, then Hungarian Prime Minister Orbn declared a state of emergency nationwide due to the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on February 24 of the same year. Subsequently, the parliament authorized the government to extend the state of emergency for 180 days multiple times, until May 13, 2026. The Hungarian "Basic Law" specifies three special legal situations: state of war, state of emergency, and state of danger, in which the government is empowered to issue decrees.
